Our Heavenly Home Mar 13

Hebrews 11: 9 By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.
The faith chapter of Hebrews 11 is a hall of fame of saints that kept the faith.  They were not perfect people but they stepped out and watched God do the impossible when they believed it possible.  The common denominator was that the faith giants were not at home in the world, but were counting on a heavenly dwelling.  When we only live for the here and now, we miss our mission.  We are moving towards our homeland heaven.  Everything we do should be done with that awareness.  We cannot take earthly wealth or assets to that place but we can do the works of Christ so others will also believe and become fellow heavenly citizens.  As foreigners on earth it is not uncommon to feel uncomfortable.  Moses did not want the power and earthly glory of being on top as a pharoah, but wanted to serve God and His people as a prophet.  Abraham did not want to have the idols of his father but wanted to follow the voice of the living, speaking God.  He was unafraid to give up his earthly inheritance and home because he would rather follow God and receive a heavenly one. In the same way we will have courage to do great exploits if we live for the voice and promise of our heavenly King and a future glory.
