Psalm 36:2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
The wicked make an effort to avoid and cover their sins by themselves for fear of consequences or disapproval and loss of a comforting resort. In order to hide their sin they give it another name like a mistake or indiscretion. Some are so deceived that they convince themselves they are doing good when they sin. Hiding sin only gives room for the plague to multiply since the only cure is being rejected. The only thing that can cover sin is admitting it by revelation of Gods word and the Spirit's conviction and asking Jesus to cover it with His blood and making Him the resort of safety instead of the idol.
