Jan 21-25

Jan 25. John 12:3 Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
When a person has experienced and received the extravagant love of Christ, they too will be able to give extravagant love like Mary.  Unfortunately it takes more than just experience to learn kindness.  Judas had also been with Jesus but his heart of greed, selfishness and suspicion kept him from taking that love in.  He criticized the offering from Mary because it was not economical.  Mary's gift filled the whole house with a sweet fragrance, just like our lives if we have intimacy with Jesus.  Sadly at the same time the world will be repelled in their blindness.

Jan 24.  John 11:5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
Jesus does not work on the timeframe of man.  It is expected to rush to a dying loved one on their bedside, but Christ's desire to see the Father glorified surpassed even his sadness in seeing death and suffering.  This does not mean his love for us is any less but only that it is more.  A revelation of God's glory is the objective and pain is merely the door through which He will show His power.

Jan 23.  Gal 6:14 But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Through the cross we can put to death the deeds of the old man including lust, covetousness and envy.  It is when we keep Christ's sacrifice in mind that it becomes easy to let go of the things the world clamors for.  Only when we get our focus off Him do we get bound in other attractions that become our conversation, dream and occupation.  Let my eyes and mouth be only for the Lord today.
Jan 22.  John 9:27 He answered them, “I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?”
When a miracle happens the devils crowd gets confused because there is no explanation.  In the case of this blind man, the religious people got in a hullaballo trying to make it go away.  First they tried to question if the wonder actually occurred to the man.  When there was no denying it they tried to find a problem with the wonder worker Jesus.  The more they heard the story, the more carefully they tried to find a reason Not to believe.  Finally they threw the healed man out of church so they did not have to listen to him anymore.  Let us never lose the wonder of Jesus to our own unbelief or a
religion that doesn't have room for God to show Himself.

Jan 21.  John 8:11 ” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”
It is easy to cower from God in fear and shame when we have sinned.  Satan known as the accuser of the brethren will be sure to surround us with accusing voices internally and externally like the women caught in adultery.  Their condemnation could lead us to inner death and ruin.  Thank God when Jesus comes on the scene, he silences the accusers, taking our sin as his own and gives us power to rise up changed to sin no longer.  People are not this merciful.  Thus when we sin we ought to fly to the Lord for our rescue;  He came to seek and save.
