Trees of Righteousness

We can be compared to trees of righteousness full of strength and beauty because of the favor and grace God shows us through Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 61:2-3 (NLT)
2He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the LORD’s favor has come,b
and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
3To all who mourn in Israel,c
he will give a crown of beauty for ashes,
a joyous blessing instead of mourning,
festive praise instead of despair.
In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks
that the LORD has planted for his own glory.

A spiritual tree is like a family tree. Instead of showing how a family grew through natural childbearing, this tree shows how a spiritual family grows through giving spiritual birth to individuals. When you lead someone to the Lord you never know who they will lead to the Lord and so on. You are making your mark in history recorded by heavenly scribes and in God’s family album. Spiritual trees can be within a genetic family or individually completely unrelated naturally.

Spiritual family trees in the Bible:

2 timothy 1:5 I call to re-embrace the genuine faith first grandmother Lois, mother Eunice and in Timothy.

Acts 9:10 Ananias went to pray for Saul and preach to him. Paul won many converts who in turn won many more.

Just as a tree may be rooted in righteousness, there can be a turning away with many rotten, dead shoots. These are people who turned away from God and brought death and destruction to the spiritual life of a family or nation.
2 kings 22-23 great grandfather Hezekiah, Manasseh- seduced them to do evil, Amon continued in evil.

A revivalist brings a nation or family back to their original purpose and position in Christ. It is a cutting of of the dead things and restoring life and vitality to the spiritual tree.

Josiah was a revivalist
Josiah
1.       Found the law, heard the words of the law,
2.       Repentance-sorrow for sin, seek the Lord on how to please the Lord
3.       Listen to prophets Huldah
4.       Covenant to the Lord to follow him
5.       Removed idols and high places and sexual perversion from time of Solomon
6.       Killed pagan preists, put away occultists, reinstated Passover.

Let us also be trees of righteousness bearing fruit in the spiritual life of others to follow us as described in Psalm 1(NLT): 1Oh, the joys of those who do not

follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
2But they delight in the law of the LORD,
meditating on it day and night.
3They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.
