Rallying Point

There was much energy and excitement around Trump's rally last night. I observed thousands of ordinary people crying out and cheering for our president. I saw people from all walks of life including moms and their children, a blind man with a cane, a somber war veteran with his loyal wife and daughter at his side, a hunched-over elderly couple that could barely make it in the building, a band of beautiful women with Slavic accents, polished young men in business attire and back-woods, energetic youth with mullets.
There was a common theme among the attendees--one of expectation and anticipation. Arriving on the scene was a leader that was offering our nation what they long desired. Some wanted more benefits for those in service. Others sought better paying jobs or less taxes. Still others looked for safety from terror. Our country represented. Our house.  A family, as it were, in disorder with the possibility of coming back to order holding noble aims of discipline, protection, responsibility, greatness, productivity, purpose and honor.
At each promise voiced by President Trump, the crowd gave a collective roar and applause.  The louder cheers came at references to God's hand in our land's destiny. I hope those shouts were also the most sincere, for without the Lord we can do nothing.

God is the one that defines what is true and good. We see it in the face of Jesus Christ. It is His strength and wisdom we need for living and should treasure. He is the one we look to and who alone can bring salvation. May our leaders and citizens always depend on God and find their council from His Word so that America can be a great nation.  The Lord's ways are peaceful and bring real satisfaction for the soul.  The Scripture says the nations will find Him as a rallying point and His place of rest will be glorious (Isaiah 11:10).
